‘Ordinary to Extraordinary’

Mrs. Pushpavati belongs to the village of Bandalli in Yadgir district of Karnataka. She has 3 children, one girl and two boys. She looked after the family by doing some odd jobs in the nearby agricultural fields and as domestic help while her husband worked as an agricultural labourer. When the SPED project was started in 2007 by Don Bosco Yadgir, she joined one of the self-help groups as a member. She actively participated in the programmes, awareness classes and also attended the leadership & entrepreneurship development trainings organized by Don Bosco Social Action Centre Yadgir under SPED project. It helped her realize her innate potential and leadership qualities and she became confident of her entrepreneurship skills. She became the leader of the group and took initiatives to visit banks and other government department offices for financial and project development support for her group members. Later she was chosen the president of the federation of 24 SHG groups in her village
