Posted on July 16, 2026 by admin CHITHRA Don Bosco Organizes Two-Day Art, Play and Vocational Therapy Workshop on Mental Health CHITHRA Don Bosco, Chitradurga, in collaboration with BREADS Bengaluru, successfully organized a two-day Art, Play and Vocational Therapy Workshop on Mental Health at the Government Boys’ High School, Chitradurga. The workshop brought together 40 students, providing them with an engaging platform to enhance their creativity, self-confidence, social skills and essential life skills through a variety of experiential activities. The programme commenced with a symbolic sapling watering ceremony, signifying growth, hope and holistic development. Ms. Rakshitha K., Counselor of the MINDS Programme, welcomed the gathering and introduced the objectives of the workshop. Mr. Divakar V., Coordinator of the MINDS Programme, delivered the introductory address, highlighting the importance of promoting mental well-being among adolescents and explaining the objectives and significance of the two-day workshop. The first session was facilitated by Mrs. Sunitha, Psychiatric Social Worker from the District Mental Health Programme. She spoke on the importance of mental health, common mental health challenges among children and adolescents, and their early signs and symptoms. Through interactive activities, she introduced students to key life skills such as problem-solving, decision-making, empathy, and effective communication, emphasizing their role in promoting emotional well-being and resilience. Then Mrs. Nagaveni, who engaged the students in an interactive discussion on mental health, emotional awareness and the importance of art and play as effective tools for emotional expression, stress management and personal development. On the second day, Fr. Arun conducted an inspiring session on mental health, SMART goal setting and positive thinking. He encouraged students to develop realistic goals, maintain a positive mindset and cultivate healthy habits that contribute to their overall well-being and future success. Another interactive session was led by Mrs. Kavyashree, who guided the students through activities focusing on effective communication and understanding emotions. The practical exercises helped the participants improve interpersonal relationships, emotional intelligence and self-awareness. The programme was graced by the Headmaster of Government Boys’ High School, Mr. Mohammed Jakkavulla, who appreciated the initiative and stated that such workshops play a vital role in the holistic development of students by strengthening their emotional, social and life skills.
