On 22nd October 2026, CHITHRA Don Bosco, Chitradurga, organised an awareness programme for Self-Help Group (SHG) members at VS Halli village, Chitradurga, with the objective of promoting sustainable livelihoods and improving the economic conditions of rural families through livestock farming. Mr. Jayanna, SHG Animator and WELivE Project’s Marketing Consultant of CHITHRA Don Bosco, coordinated the programme and provided detailed information about various government schemes and support available for sheep, goat and cattle farming. He explained the importance of livestock rearing as a viable livelihood opportunity for rural families, particularly women and SHG members. He highlighted the benefits of livestock farming, including regular income generation, improved household financial stability and the creation of self-employment opportunities. He also emphasised that proper livestock management, timely veterinary care, adequate feeding, disease prevention and effective marketing are essential for improving productivity and ensuring sustainable returns. The programme created awareness among SHG members about the opportunities available in sheep, goat and cattle farming and encouraged them to explore suitable livelihood activities for achieving long-term economic security and improving their families’ well-being. Through such awareness initiatives, CHITHRA Don Bosco continues its efforts to empower women and rural communities by promoting sustainable livelihood opportunities and strengthening the economic independence of SHG members.
