One-Day Training Workshop for Self-Help Group Representatives at CHITHRA Don Bosco

On September 30, 2024, a one-day training program on leadership skills, and available facilities within the agriculture department was organized for representatives of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) at CHITHRA Don Bosco, Chitradurga. The event was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Saji George (Director of Don Bosco Institutions), Rev. Fr. V. M. Mathew (Administrator of CHITHRA Don Bosco), Dc. Anthonyraj (Director of CHITHRA Don Bosco), and Mr. Mahanthesh (Technical Manager, Agriculture Department) through a lamp-lighting ceremony.

Rev. Fr. Saji delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the importance of empowering women in families for the overall development of society. He said that violence against women has not diminished and that women are still not fully empowered socially, economically, or politically—even within the family. He pointed out that the lack of information and education among women contributes to this issue. He encouraged the participants to embrace change within themselves if they want to see broader societal transformation and urged them to take advantage of awareness programs and training opportunities for women’s empowerment.

Dc. Anthonyraj Sdb adderssed the women and said that to utilize this training.

Mr. Mahanthesh highlighted the various facilities available in the agriculture department, encouraging the participants to utilize these resources for economic development.

Following this, Mr. Somalingappa (CHITHRA staff) led a team-building activity.

Mrs. Anthony Theresa (Program and Communication Coordinator of CHITHRA Don Bosco) conducted a session on group dynamics, leadership qualities, and conflict management within SHGs. She also provided information on strengthening Self-Help Groups and clarified the differences between SHGs and microfinance initiatives.

The participants shared their positive feedback and expressed gratitude to CHITHRA Don Bosco for organizing such an informative and enriching training session. A total of 60 women actively participated in the program.
