MAKKALOTSAVA 2024 “TODAY’S CHILDREN, TOMORROW’S LEADERS”

On the occasion of Children’s Day, CHITHRA Don Bosco, Chitradurga, in collaboration with BREADS Bengaluru, organized Makkalotsava 2024 for the children of evening school study centers of CHITHRA Don Bosco at CHITHRA Don Bosco, Chitradurga on 17th November 2024.

The event commenced with the inauguration of Chance Games at 9:30 AM, led by Rev. Fr. Shalbin SDB, Vice Provincial of Bengaluru Province.

There were 15 varieties of chance games and winners of the chance games got a variety of gifts.

At 11:30 AM, group dance and singing competitions were held. The events were coordinated by Mrs. Anthony Theresa and Miss Arpitha. The judges for the dance competition were Mrs. Sowmya (Teacher of Don Bosco ICSE school, Chitradurga), Ms. Sowmya (Lecturer of Don Bosco Degree College, Chitradurga) and Ms. Jenifer (Student of Don Bosco Degree College, Chitradurga). The judges for the singing competition were Mrs. Shruthi (Teacher of Government High School, Davanagere), Mr. Arun Kumar PC (Secretary of Parivartana Rural and Urban Development Organization, Molakalmuru) and Mr. Daniel (Sports Incharge of Don Bosco Degree College, Chitradurga).

Following the competitions, the children had a delicious lunch. 

After lunch, all the children gathered in the hall, where they watched a video of last year’s Makkalotsava celebrations and a short film on mental health awareness.

The stage program began at 2:00 PM with a prayer song by the children of the Buddhanagara Evening School Study Center. A warm welcome address delivered by Mr. Mahanthesh, a staff member of CHITHRA Don Bosco.

Rev. Fr. Uday sdb (Principal of Don Bosco States School, Chitradurga) was the president of the program. Rev. Fr. V M Mathew sdb (Administrator of CHITHRA Don Bosco, Chitradurga), Rev. Fr. John Paul sdb (Administrator of Don Bosco, Chitradurga), Rev. Fr. Christy Joseph sdb (Vice Principal of Don Bosco Degree College, Chitradurga),  Dc. Anthonyraj sdb (Director of CHITHRA Don Bosco, Chitradurga), Mr. B M Anil Kumar (Member of the Child Welfare Committee, Chitradurga), Mrs. Pushpa S D (Member of the Child Welfare Committee, Chitradurga), Dr. Dhanakoti (Professor of Don Bosco Degree College, Chitradurga), Mr. Snake Shivu (Snake rescuer, Chitradurga), Ms. Spoorthy (Animal rescuer, Chitradurga), Ms. Nidhi (State Level President of Bosco Youth Group, Chitradurga), Master Benakaraj (Hospet Zonal Level President of Bosco Youth, Chitradurga) and Matser Arya (Representative of the children) were the guests who adorned the stage.

Dc. Anthonyraj SDB, Director of CHITHRA Don Bosco, delivered the keynote address.

The program was inaugurated by all the dignitaries on the stage through lit the lamp.

Mr. Anil Kumar, a member of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), addressed the children with the inspiring theme, “Today’s Children, Tomorrow’s Leaders.”

Mrs. Pushpa S.D., a member of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), addressed the children to raise awareness about the usage of mobile phones.

Dr. Dhanakoti, a professor at Don Bosco Degree College, conveyed the importance of listening through two insightful moral stories.

Ms. Spoorthy, an animal rescuer, Chitradurga, spoke passionately about the importance of animal conservation. After that she delighted the audience by singing a beautiful song.

The children from M.D. Kote performed a powerful mime act to raise awareness about the impact of mobile phone and social media usage on mental health.

Mrs. Gangamma, a dedicated teacher from the Kalakunte Evening School Study Center, was honored as the Best Teacher. Kumari Inchara, a bright and talented student from the M.D. Kote Evening School Study Center, was recognized as the Best Student.

Mr. Arun Kumar P.C., a former staff member of CHITHRA Don Bosco and the current Secretary of Parivartana Rural and Urban Development Organization, Molakalmuru, and Master Veeresh, a member of the CHITHRA Youth Star, got this year’s prestigious ‘Makkala Mithra’ Award.

All the guests were felicitated during the occasion. 

The children who won the various competitions, CHITHRA Youth Stars and Manipuri students from Don Bosco Degree College performed a cultural program.

Then juice, fruits, and sweets were distributed to all the children, concluded with a group photo.

Teachers from 14 study centers, CHITHRA Youth Stars, SHG members, Students from Don Bosco Degree college, CHITHRA staffs and 450 children were present for the program.
