International Child Rights Day….

On the occasion of International Child Rights Day, CHITHRA Don Bosco, Chitradurga, organized a training program for students at Kittur Rani Chennamma Girls’ Residential High School, Aimangala village, Hiriyur Taluk, Chitradurga, on 20th November 2024.

The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony, during which all dignitaries participated in watering a sapling as a symbolic gesture. Mr. Mahanthesh, a staff member of CHITHRA Don Bosco, provided the information on Child Rights and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), laws and acts for child protection, with a specific focus on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012 and its amendment in 2019.
He also raised awareness about critical issues such as child labor, child marriage, mental health, and contemporary social evils affecting children. Mr. Umesh, the Headmaster of the school, along with assistant teachers and 150 students were present for the program.
