Posted on November 15, 2024 by admin Awareness Program on Child Protection and Mental Health for children… On 8th November 2024, CHITHRA Don Bosco held an awareness program for students at Don Bosco Kannada Medium School, Chitradurga. The program began with an ice-breaker activity led by Master Shreyank (MINDS project coordinator of CHITHRA Don Bosco). Following this, Mrs. Anthony Theresa conducted a session on the POCSO Act, covering topics such as what POCSO is, why it was created, what constitutes child sexual abuse, the differences between safe and unsafe touch, what actions to take if someone harms a child, how the POCSO Act helps protect children, and who can assist. She also discussed children’s rights under POCSO and key takeaways. Followed the session she took a quiz on the POCSO Act. Afterward, Miss. Arpitha (Counselor of the MINDS project at CHITHRA Don Bosco) taught a song called “Makkale Maneya Deepa Ellara Maneyallu.” She then spoke to the children about mental health, its impacts, and the effects of screen addiction, raising awareness through a short video on mental health. Dc. Anthonyraj then taught an action song in Kannada titled “Tring Tring Cycle Gadi.” He concluded the program with warm wishes for Children’s Day. Rev. Fr. John Paul SDB (Principal of Don Bosco Kannada Medium School and Administrator of Don Bosco Institutions, Chitradurga), Dc. Anthonyraj SDB (Director of CHITHRA Don Bosco, Chitradurga), Master Benaka (Vishwakarma Program Coordinator of CHITHRA Don Bosco), and 90 students were present at the event.
